Project Overview

Modish7 is an Indian fashion e-commerce brand offering trendy apparel, ethnic wear, accessories, and seasonal collections for men and women. They needed a modern Shopify storefront that could compete in India's fast-growing online fashion market while supporting local payment methods and a mobile-first shopping experience.

The client wanted a fresh, contemporary design that would appeal to young Indian fashion shoppers, with smooth navigation, quick load times, and seamless checkout optimized for Indian payment preferences.

How I approached the real problems

I prioritized touch-friendly navigation, fast mobile loads, and thumb-reachable CTAs to match how Indian customers actually shop.

Challenges Faced

Building for the Indian fashion e-commerce market presented specific challenges:

Mobile-First India: Over 75% of Indian e-commerce traffic comes from mobile devices. The theme needed to be exceptionally responsive and touch-optimized.

Indian Payment Integration: The store needed to support Indian payment methods including UPI, Paytm, and COD (Cash on Delivery) alongside standard options.

Size & Fit Complexity: Indian fashion requires detailed size charts, fit guides, and variant handling for different body types and regional sizing standards.

Fast Catalog Browsing: Fashion shoppers expect quick category browsing, filtering by size/color/price, and trending product discovery.

Competitive Market: India's fashion e-commerce space is highly competitive. The store needed to feel modern, fast, and trustworthy to stand out.

My Approach

I built the theme with the Indian market as the primary focus:

Phase 1 — Theme Architecture: Set up a clean Shopify theme structure with modular Liquid sections optimized for fashion merchandising.

Phase 2 — Homepage & Discovery: Built a dynamic homepage with trending collections, new arrivals, seasonal banners, and Instagram integration for social proof.

Phase 3 — Product Experience: Developed collection pages with sidebar filtering by category, size, color, and price. Built product pages with size guides, fit recommendations, and quick-add functionality.

Phase 4 — Checkout & Payments: Configured Indian payment methods, COD option, and streamlined checkout. Added trust badges and return policy highlights.

Phase 5 — Performance: Optimized images, implemented lazy loading, and ensured fast load times even on slower mobile networks common in parts of India.

Results & Impact

The store launched successfully and serves the Indian fashion market:

Performance: PageSpeed 89/100 desktop, 86/100 mobile. LCP 2.3s. Lighthouse SEO 100/100.

Store Features: 10+ categories, 150+ products, size guides, Indian payment integration, COD support, and mobile-optimized navigation.
